In the amazonia region, in wooded zones of the tree frountier: Colombia, Peru and Brasil. It´s says that Kurupira is a protector living being of the forest that had coming from the spiritual world. Copycatting any living being although he prefers mostly to adopt the figure of a childlike barefooted little man, dressed in rags who happily wanders through the jungle taking care of all issues he is responsible for, as the locals describe him. His house is the whole jungle world but it is most commonly represented in legendary tales by the buttressed roots of the impressive majestic big Ceibas and Renacos whose canopies soar above the High and Flooded ecosystems throughout the great amazonian jungle.
In the town of Leticia, the house of Kurupira is the entrance door to the spiritual world; witch ensures the perpetuity to the forest, the ancestral culture, the shaman and all the being. You don´t get here just by chance; once inside the Kurupira´s magic inspires you to direct your steps through the Amazon both strengthening your body and mind to face wisely any challenges you may come across in the future. La Casa del Kurupira Hostal, its inhabitants and collaborators at any time, welcome travelers from all corners of the world, young or professionals, mystic and enigmatic, or extraverts too, some of them more adventurer than other, all of them wonderful warriors of life and good.
On arrival to la Casa del Kurupira´s headquarters, the jungle contact is presented as a life enhancing and transforming experience, both a challenge and an opportunity for learning unexpected lessons on wisdom. Don´t come to La Casa del Kurupira with prejudgements or ill intentions. According to the jungle lore the Kurupira is in charge of making the lesson fit to each one´s behavior, driving the most stubborn and rebelious to despair and madness along terrible journeys.
Thematic Museaum hostal, we´d say, because in La Casa del Kurupira all rooms, like dorms private or shared, take the names of the most important ancestral ethnics in the region as our token of gratitude and respect for their wisdom , which we wish will last forever, regarding the meaning of life and of mankind. Thus, our rooms and dormst, although not luxurious they provide a basic comfort to allow our guests to start their acquaintance with the local ethnic groups through masks, typical and ceremonial dresses, paintings, writings and everyday tools.
The traditional tools and other cultural expressions you may find in each room have been acquired as a result of a friendly daily rapport with natives, especially with their elders, wise men who give us company and guidance throughout life and sometimes from beyond. To all characters whose intertwined life stories allowed for la Casa del Kurupira in Leticia a happy commencement, a great deal of thanks and our best wishes for each one of them. "
